Hobnail cookies (chocolate chip cookies)
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg beaten
1 – 1/2 cups sifted flour (I didn’t sift it because I don’t yet have a sifter BUT to be honest, I am not sure what sifting does…they tasted great!)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate chips (I like to use milk chocolate chips instead of the semi sweet. I just think they taste better that way)
1. Cream together the sugar & shortening, add beaten egg & vanilla.
2. Sift together the dry ingredients, stir them in a little bit at a time and beat well.
3. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
4. Bake at 375 degrees Farenheit for 12 – 15 minutes. This recipe makes about 2 dozen, so feel free to double if you need to make more to share!
5. Enjoy the warm & gooey cookies fresh from the oven & let me know what you thought?
